Evelyn Alarcón

On April 5th 2011 I received an email from the Mexican illustrator Evelyn Alarcón. I was having a lousy day. curled up in a mental fetal position in the middle of a post China-Sweden depression, unemployed and broke and without a clue about what to do next. But her sweet email asking me for one of my pictures for a collaboration on her blog pulled the wet blanket right off my face. From there on we became twitter friends, and a while later we decided to meet up for a coffee and cupcakes in real life. When we met she brought with her one of her designs, a one-of-a-kind rubber stamp, that she gave to me as a gift. And on another occasion she gave me two of her fantastic illustrations. I really love her work, and it helped to remind me of Japan, one of those countries on the top of my list of places to go. So It’s decided — Japan, I’ll be coming to get you. Thanks for the reminder, Evelyn.

I think we can all relate to those feelings, and being unexpectedly picked up from the slump we’re at by random nice people. It’s nice that you dedicated this post to her, her work is amazing.
