This afternoon two Swedes decided to take me on a trip to a place very near from the little red house where I’m living right now. Prepared with a pair of fancy binoculars and the excitement of a five year old kid waiting for Christmas presents we drove to Älgberget (Elk mountain) to try to see some Elks or other wild animals living in the Swedish forest. I was secretly hoping to see a bear but when I mentioned the two swedes looked at me and laughed a little bit, apparently it’s way more difficult to see a bear and it requires more time and patience. Since I came to Sweden I have been hearing stories about how often the elks where crossing the roads and how easy it is to see them, but I haven’t been lucky enough to see one … until today, when actually I saw two! We were driving slowly and suddenly an elk came out of the trees crossing the small road. The elk stopped and stared at us, and then another came. They stayed in front of us a couple of seconds and my heart was beating to the max — I couldn’t believe it! I finally saw two elks, two real ones. I couldn’t feel happier today. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to take a picture as they were too fast, but instead here some shots from the wonderful Swedish landscape.

Esta tarde dos Suecos decidieron llevarme de paseo a un lugar muy cerca de la casita roja donde estoy viviendo. Preparados con un par de binoculares y la emoción de un chiquillo de cinco años esperando por sus regalos de Navidad nos dirigimos hacia Älgberget (Montaña de los Alces) para tratar de ver algunos Alces o cualquier otro animal salvaje de esos que viven en los bosques Suecos. Secretamente yo esperaba encontrarme a algun oso por ahí, pero cuando decidí contar mi secreto los dos Suecos me miraron y se burlaron de mi, parece que es mucho más difícil encontrarte a un oso perdido por ahí. Desde que llegue a Suecia habia escuchado historias de como los Alces de un momento a otro cruzaban las carreteras y de como era super fácil encontrarte a uno, pero hasta el momento no había tenido tal suerte… hasta ahora, cuando no vi uno sino ¡dos! El auto iba despacio y de repente un Alce salió de entre los árboles y cruzo el camino. Se detuvo por un momento y volteo a vernos, entonces otro salió del mismo lugar. Se quedaron paraditos frente a nosotros por un par de segundos y mi corazón no paraba de latir– ¡no podía creerlo! Finalmente vi a dos Alces, dos de verdad. Hoy no podría estar más contenta. Desafortunadamente no tuve tiempo de tomarles fotos, se marcharon muy rápido, pero lo que si tengo son fotos del maravilloso paisaje Sueco.
