The Closet Voyeur: Paola Beck

As a child I always wanted to see what other peoples toilets looked like. Why? No idea. But now with the Closet Voyeur I’ve seen more than just toilets — I’ve got to see their work spaces, that intimate space where the magic happens. Especially for artists, like Paola Beck.

Paola´s life is interesting, full of influences from around the world. Her father’s German, her mother’s Mexican. She studied in Rome, Italy, and she lived in Germany. She’s a photographer, illustrator, painter, and aspiring hula hooper.

Sueño : últimamente, cada vez sueño más con el mar, hoy soñé que estaba en alemania, en un picnic, viendo una performance de la última cena (?) y cuando iba a tomarles fotos vi que atrás estaba el MAR, y cuando corrí para meter los pies, me desperté, pero sonriendo.

Dream: Lately, every time I dream more about the sea. Today I dreamed I was in Germany, on a picnic, watching a performance of the last supper. And when I was about to take pictures, I saw the sea behind them, and when I ran to wet my feet I woke up, smiling.

Diseñador: me gusta mucho lo que hace Ale Quesada, se ve que sus diseños están hechos con amor.

Designer: I really like what Ale Quesada does, it seems her designs are made with love.

Zapatos: unos tacones cafés que compré en berlin, parecen de la postguerra (amo todo lo que es o parece de la postguerra) y son taan bonitos

Shoes: a brown pair of hills I bought in Berlin. They look like they are from the post war period (I love everything from that period) and they are soooo pretty.

Accesorios: siempre uso trapos en el cuello, no lo puedo evitar, tengo una enorme colección-obsesión, algunos vintage de mi abuela, otros de mil colores, otros de mercados de pulgas, y lentes de sol, un millón.

Accessories: I always use stuff around my neck, I can´t avoid it. I have a big collection/obsession. Some of them are from my grandmother, others multicolored, others from the flea markets, and sunglasses — a million.
