The Closet Voyeur: Magali Alcaide

[drop_cap style=”color:#ff6a28;”]M[/drop_cap]agali Alcaide lives in Paris and has a job that would make any one of you (and me) green with envy. This is what she does: she curates beauty. Sounds amazing, right? And just look at the bio from her twitter profile: “I select the best of art, architecture, fashion, interiors, travel and auctions worldwide.”

I don’t know about you, but there a few people I would consider killing to get that job.

And don’t forget to check out her website, The Contraster, where she runs an amazing online shop with, curated by herself, of course.

Oh, and she’s beautiful too.

Enjoy!

Dream: I am a big dreamer, and always try to make them come true. I have my best and most creative ideas in my sleep, so dreams are very important to me.

Quote: We must free ourselves of the hope that the sea will ever rest. We must learn to sail in high winds.
–Aristotle Onassis

Designer: For this fall my favorite collections were by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Paolo Piccioli at Valentino, Christophe Lemaire at Hermès, Chalayan and Giambattista Valli. But Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen at The Row or Haider Ackermann are always incredible.

Shoes: The moment I can I go bare foot, otherwise Alaïa

Accessories: I love vintage jewellery, specially when art inspired the creators. I also deeply believe in jewel’s energy, and when it has a soul because it has lived it’s even better.

Song: Music rhythms my life, I am a big jazz passionate, Coltrane is the greatest.

Perfume: I still haven’t found mine, but keep on searching, so I am always trying different ones. Right now I’m wearing one from Hermès and another one from Penhaligon’s.

City: I chose to live in Paris because I thought it was the most beautiful city in the world but if I ever get lost you will find me around Napoli, Capri and the Amalfi Coast. I have spent a lot of time there on my own so I am more or less a local now, I feel home, I really love it. I have all the best insider’s addresses and tips so if you ever plan on going ask me!

Ice cream: Anyone by Vasa Vasa, they’re from Torino in Italy but luckily have opened a place in Paris near the Eiffel tower. The ice creams are incredible, very very natural, they have less added sugar and cream, feel lighter yet much more delicious than any other.

Language: I have travelled a lot and have always had a readiness for speaking foreign languages well, but my favorite ones are the ones we all have in common, the language of senses and the laughter. When you are lost in a far far away country where you can’t seem to understand a thing a smile takes you everywhere and a shared laugh becomes precious.

Blog: I follow Purple’s, have you seen Alex Israel’s interviews? So funny. Apart from that I tend to go to nerd scientific ones at 3am, when I ask myself big questions about the universe.

Magazine: I read everything! It is important for me particularly to keep up with everything that goes around style as I am my member’s eyes. I buy all the best magazines and filter what I find for my members. Self Service and Numéro are two of my favorites.

Book: I haven’t read yet the one that would surpass Dostoïevsky’s.

Favorite activity: Playing and cuddling with my dog, she’s amazing..

Movie: An american film noir from the 40s and 50s. The stories were great, the directors smart, the actors stylish and the atmosphere magic.
