IKEA dreaming by El Andy

If you grow up in Scandinavia, you grow up with Ikea. As a little blond Scandinavian child you probably slept in an Ikea bed, you woke up and ate your breakfast with your Ikea family on an Ikea table in an Ikea kitchen, and watched tv in an Ikea couch. And then when you got older and it was time to move out, you furnished your first apartment with Ikea furniture. That’s what I did. But When I moved to Mexico with Bere, and we got our first apartment together, I was lost. Where do people buy their beds when there’s no Ikea? What do they eat on, and where do they sit? Can a home, democracy and civilization even exist without Ikea? I still don’t know the answer to that. But now I’m temporarily back in Sweden in my mom’s house, in Ikea land. In fact, I’m sitting on an Ikea chair with my computer gently resting on an Ikea table as I’m writing this. And life is back to Ikea normal. But now I’m dreaming of mine and Bere’s next home together, hoping we can get a place that’s big enough for all the rooms below. My favorite is the last one, the work place. I can imagine myself and Bere sitting across each other working on our stuff, drinking tea and discussing ideas. Which one is your favorite? [Si creciste en Escandinavia, creciste con Ikea. Siendo un niño güerito de Escandinavia probablemente dormiste en una cama Ikea, al despertar comías tu desayuno con tu familia en una mesa Ikea y en una Cocina Ikea, después veías televisión sentado en un sillón Ikea. Y después cuando creciste y llegó el momento de tener tu primer departamento lo amueblaste con productos Ikea. Eso fue lo que yo hice Pero cuando viví en México con Bere y rentamos nuestro primer departamento juntos, estaba perdido, ¿donde compra la gente sus camas si no hay Ikea? ¿En donde comen? ¿En donde se sientan? ¿Puede existir una casa, la democracia y la civilización donde no existe Ikea? No se aun la respuesta. Pero ahora estoy temporalmente en Suecia, en casa de mi mama, en la tierra de Ikea. De hecho, estoy sentado en una silla Ikea y mi computadora se encuentra sobre una mesa Ikea mientras escribo esto. Ahora sueño con nuestro nuevo hogar juntos, esperando que podamos encontrar un lugar que sea lo suficientemente grande para tener todos los siguientes cuartos. Mi favorito es el último, el lugar de trabajo. Puedo imaginarme con Bere sentada al lado, cada uno trabajando en sus cosas, bebiendo te y discutiendo algunas ideas. ¿Cuál es tu favorito?]

God! I’m a huge fan of Ikea! I can say it’s my favorite home store in the world (besides Galerías el Triunfo, ha ha ha). In Boston almost the whole appartment have Ikea furnitures. Actually, you have a picture of a table I have there (the one with blue chairs) And, Bere, the flowers of PI are from Ikea!
By the way, I vote for take a car and bring some stuff from Ikea’s USA ’cause other wise you are really going to feel lost in translation!

It must have been hard to move to a so different country…but I guess not only because the Ikea stuff, but because of everything you used to have and live…however, Mexico must have a lot that you don’t have back to your old home…

Tengo media casa decorada con muebles de Ikea (y otros detalles, que tienen de todo). A su excelente precio se une la calidad, que no es mala como muchos quieren suponer. Trabajé durante años en una tienda de muebles y puedo asegurar que lo que venden en otros sitios como alta gama sólo es publicidad y cara dura.
Dioooooos… TODO me gusta…TODO… justo ahora tomo ideas para redecorar mi epqueñiiiisima recamara!!!…. y mañana mismo llamo a mi carpintero para que me haga algo de alguna de las pics de arriba…BUENIIIIISIMO post!
