“Growing up on the wrong side of the wall might mean becoming blind”

La mayoría de las veces al solo ver una imagen puedes adivinar y sentir lo que el autor trató de expresar, claro, si el trabajo está bien hecho. Este es el caso de la fotografía de Winkler+Noah, sus imágenes tratan de transmitir una sensación de híper-realidad.

Como pueden ver su trabajo está lleno de emociones fuertes y lo son aun mas cuando desarrollan una idea basada en grandes acontecimientos del pasado como lo fue el Muro de Berlín por ejemplo. No me puedo imaginar el sentimiento de vivir detrás de ese muro, el sentimiento de estar ciego por imposición. Para ver más de su trabajo vayan aquí

“Growing up on the wrong side of the wall might mean becoming blind”

Most of the time just by seen an image you can guess what does the author tried to portray, of course, if it´s a work well done. This is the case of the photography by Winkler+Noah, their pictures attempt to communicate a sensation of hyper-reality.

As you can see their work is full of powerful emotions and even more when you develop the idea based on great past events like the Berlin Wall for example. I cannot imagine the felling of living behind that wall, the feeling of being blind by imposition. To see more of their work click Here

Photojournalist Willy Ronis was born in Paris to a Lithuanian piano teacher and a Ukranian studio photographer. He worked in his father’s Montmarte studio until the father’s death in 1936. He then closed the studio and joined the photo agency Rapho, with Brassaï, Robert Doisneau and Ergy Landau.

In 1953 Edward Steichen included his work in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art titled Five French Photographers—the other four were Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Izis and Brassaï. Ronis was also included in the Family of Man exhibit in 1955. In 1957 Ronis was awarded the Gold Medal at the Venice Biennale.

Willy Ronis passed away on September 12, 2009.

I´m a very lucky girl, why? Because my friend Carla brought me this pink cutie, is from the Creative Growth collection for Marc Jacobs.

I couldn’t be more perfect, it´s pink, it´s small, it makes me think about china and the more important reason, the money from my purchase will be donated to the Creative Growth Art Center located in Oakland California.

This Creative Center is the world’s largest and oldest art studio for people with disabilities. Louis Estape, Dan Miller, William Scott, and Gerone Spruill, from the creative Growth family, are the authors of different designs printed in t-shirts, totes, shoulder bags and the clutch wallet like mine

El 31 de octubre la Galería Yautepec abrirá sus nuevas puertas con INFERNO. Si, la galería se ha trasladado a un nuevo espacio en la colonia San Rafael de la Ciudad de México.

La exhibición curada por Leslie Rosa-Stumpf es la más ambiciosa producida hasta la fecha así que estoy segura vale muchísimo la pena.

Tendrán la oportunidad de ver el trabajo de diferentes artistas como Kembra Pfahler (The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black), Enrique Marty, Artemio, Robert Lazzarini, Micah Ganske, Colette Robbins, Ruben Gutierrez, Evan Gruzis, Diann Bauer, Fay Ray, Bijoux Altamirano, Christopher Garrett, and Selena Kimball.

Today it’s a Party day in México. Every September 16th we celebrate our Independence day and we scream Viva México.

Today is Friday! My advice for this weekend: Look at the sky and Kiss, kiss, kiss. Happy weekend! My blues went away!

Desde el 27 de agosto y hasta el 26 de septiembre pueden disfrutar en la Galería Yautepec la exhibición The Gods We are. La idea principal alrededor de esta muestra es retratar a los artistas como Dioses, entonces lo que deben esperarse en el espacio son cuartos llenos de divertidos y creativos altares.

Una de las fuentes de inspiración de los artistas detrás de este proyecto fue el aserto de Nietzshe que dice los artistas deben salvar al mundo.

From August 27 to September 26 you can enjoy at Yautepec Gallery the exhibition The Gods We are. The main idea around this exhibition is to portray the artists as Gods, therefore what you should expect at the gallery are rooms full of joyful and creative shrines.

One of the sources that inspired the artists behind this project was Nietzsche’s dictum which states that artists must save the world.

La muestra es absolutamente divertida, créanme, ¿Cómo lo sé? Bueno porque Botica Pop y yo estuvimos ahí en la inauguración el pasado Jueves.

It is absolutely fun to see, believe me, how do I know? Well because Botica Pop and I were there for the opening last Thursday.

¿Necesitan más información acerca de la Galería y las exposiciones? Bueno, déjenme empezar diciéndoles que Yautepec es un espacio relativamente nuevo dirigido por Tatiana Musi, Daniela Elbahara, and Brett W. Schultz ubicada en La Condesa en la ciudad de México. Ellos empezaron con exposiciones mensuales desde Enero del 2008 y están enfocados en artistas emergentes y atrevidos.

Do you need more information about the Gallery and the exhibitions? Well let me start by telling you that Yautepec is a young space directed by Tatiana Musi, Daniela Elbahara, and Brett W. Schultz, located at La Condesa in México City. They started hosting monthly exhibitions on January 2008 and are focused on emerging bold artists.

Tengo el placer de conocer a Daniela y Brett, una pareja inteligente y creativa a la que no hay que perderle el paso. ¡No dejen de visitar!

I have the pleasure to know Daniela and Brett, a very creative and smart couple whom we should keep an eye on. Come and visit!

¿Cuando fue la última vez que creaste algo? Tal vez perteneces al grupo de personas que dejaron de crear cuando paso su infancia, o cuando salieron del Kinder, o cuando tenían el tiempo y la imaginación, o tal vez no.

Ciertamente los artistas mantienen ese niño dentro de ellos, el niño que nunca se cansa de crear, colorear, imaginar, soñar. ¡Qué suerte tienen!

¿Pero como mantienen a ese niño vivo? ¿Existe una fórmula mágica? No estoy segura que la película Beautiful Losers tiene las respuestas a mis preguntas, pero definitivamente se que suena inspiradora. En la película, artistas lideres en su disciplina, relatan historias acerca de su vida y su pasión. Aquí les dejo el avance. Si quieren leer más acerca vayan a su sitio.

¿When was the last time you create something? Perhaps you are in the group of people that stopped creating things after childhood, when you finished kinder garden, when you had the time and the imagination or Perhaps you are not.

But how do they keep that child alive? Is there a magical formula? I´m not sure that the Film Beautiful Losers has the answer to my questions, but I definitively know that it will be inspiring.
